The Bouquet and Garter TossYou know. Either the bouquet and garter are tossed or just the bouquet. We are still waiting for someone to ask for the garter only. Under construction.
The Anniversary Dance:Very popular now is the Anniversary Dance, an alternative to the bouquet and garter toss. The MC will invite all married couples to come to the dance floor and begin playing a series of romantic ballads. After a minute, he will announce that couples married less than one day should leave the dance floor. At intervals he will ask anyone married 1 year or less, 5 years, 10 years, etc. until only the longest married couple remains. The bride will then present her bouquet to them as a gift and recognition of their commitment. Let us know if you would like this formality and who is the longest married couple and how many years they have survived (only 19 for us).
The Dollar DanceWe don't know where this custom came from. Probably a lot of cultures claim it because it just works! If you don't make a lot of money, you'll still share some intimate moments with some good old friends. All of the guests are asked to join the bride or the groom on the dance floor, one at time, for a slow dance. The cost: $1.00. Let us know if you want us to limit the amount. Centerpieces GiveawaySometimes we are asked to announce who takes home the flower arrangements on each table. Here are a few ideas we have heard. Take your pick: Passing the dollar: The last person holding the dollar gets the centerpiece. Birthday: Whoever's birthday is closet to today. Person whose plate has a coin under it. Person who has know the bride or groom longest. Kara and Bryan had this idea: "You may have noticed that Kara and Bryan have tried to force their movie tastes on you all, instead of the usual table numbers, each table is named with one of their favorite movies. One of you from each table will be taking home the table's DVD. So someone from each table please take out a dollar, we're going to pass it around until the music stops. (PLAY Music). MUSIC STOPS: " Whoever is holding the dollar gets to take home the flowers, and whoever was nice enough to TAKE OUT the dollar, you get to take home the DVD, and have your dollar back! |
