Even during the most casual wedding reception, the bride & groom dance to
their "First Song." It is a perfect way to get the party (and the
cameras) rolling. Be sure to let us know if you intend to have a "First
Song" and the order in which your guests should be invited to join in. The
following is a typical scenario: Approximately 15 minutes after the cocktail
hour the band leader or DJ invites the bride and groom to the dance floor for
their "first dance". The announcement can be subtle or with great
fanfare. He then invites others, usually the parents and/or the bridal party, to
join in about thirty seconds later. After another thirty seconds, everyone is
invited to join in the dancing. The Maitre D' usually determines when to
interrupt the dancing for the toast or the first course.
